Go Mobile in Oconee County

Caring for the Rural Communities

In Oconee County, Go Mobile partners with Prisma Health and local organizations to bring care directly to the people.

Health fairs and pop-up clinics have been held at:

  • Ann Hope United Methodist Church
  • Our Daily Bread
  • Blue Ridge Community Center
  • The F.A.R.M. Center

At each site, trainees and faculty provide:

  • Wellness summaries and referrals
  • Blood pressure & glucose screenings
  • BMI and nutrition education
  • Flu & COVID immunizations

These services are free and open to all. But their true value lies in the relationships built.
Residents who once hesitated to engage are now active partners in their own care — a testament to the trust and compassion at the heart of Go Mobile.

Go Mobile in the Pee Dee

Through a partnership with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health and Florence County School District Five, Go Mobile integrates school-based mental health services using a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework.

Key Initiatives:

  • On-site mental-health assessments and counseling in schools
  • Early identification and referral for students in need
  • Education for teachers and staff on recognizing signs of distress
  • Telehealth options for ongoing care and family involvement

My experience on the HRSA Grant Mobile Clinic has been a fantastic opportunity for me to increase my awareness of the growing need for early identification of disease  in the rural community and unhoused population, as well as the importance of providing education regarding preventive measures, which includes vaccination.

While there are many factors that contribute to the success of nurse led mobile clinics, I think it begins with building trusting and respectful relationships with the people being served.

In my experience, this has certainly been the hallmark of the collaborative efforts of the Clemson School of Nursing and Prisma Health in providing outreach to the communities we visit. I look forward to seeing the expansion and evolution of nurse led mobile clinics in underserved areas of South Carolina and across rural America.”
